Axbridge: A Fairtrade Town

Saturday 3rd March 2007 was a proud day for Axbridge. In 2007, the 450th anniversary year of the Axbridge Royal Charter from Queen Mary, the town was awarded the status of Fairtrade Town.

The monthly Farmers' Market in the Square was the setting for the celebrations. Our local MP (at the time), the Right Honourable David Heathcoat-Amory presented the certificate of Fairtrade Status to the Mayor of Axbridge Baz Hamblin.

The Axbridge Singers were on hand to give a wonderful rendition of African songs (above).
