Axbridge CC are looking forward to their fifth season of friendly matches, against a combination of local and touring sides. 2008 will see the largest fixture list yet with a mix of evening (20/20) and weekend (40 over) games and a tour to the south of France. New members of all abilities will be very welcome. Most matches will again take place at the picturesque Allerton ground with a couple at the Kings of Wessex School ground in Cheddar. All games are played in a friendly spirit. We try our best to win, but only after ensuring that everyone who wants to has a bat, a bowl or ideally both. Our youth policy encourages young players as well as old. So, if you live in Axbridge or any of the surrounding villages and would like to join in, get in touch as soon as possible. Our aim is to bring cricket back to Axbridge itself, with net facilities on the furlong and eventually our own pitch. Contacts are Phil Saunders (Captain : Tel : 733862 or 732354 in the evenings) or Mike Day (Fixtures Secretary : Tel : 732659). Don’t worry if you do not have the gear – the club has bats, gloves, pads etc for the use of members. In preparation for the new season indoor nets will be taking place at the Kings of Wessex Sports centre in Cheddar as follows : Sundays 1pm - 2pm, 20th January '08, 24th February '08, 30th March '08 Sundays 12.30pm - 1.30pm 6th April '08, 13th April '08, 20th April '08, 27th April '08
